Matching Needs to Traveler
Skills and Interests
Design a community centre
if a community hall needs to be built, a builder or architect may visit and spend his time working on preparing a design and getting a spade ready project document ready, in his off time the community will take him on whatever activity they have access to and the visitor enjoys.
Map an area
A station owner in the outback needs to map his property. A person with GIS expertise wants to travel and experience lift in a working remote station. The site will connect them so that the mapping is done in exchange for accomodation, riding the ATV's/Horses to collect GPS information and a ride in the mustering helicopter to fill in the gaps
If there is a group in a rural community who don't know how to use a computer, a traveller who has the knowledge to teach basic computers would visit and live with that community for a few weeks and teach them. In his/her off time they can go fishing or hiking in the areas around that community which other people can't visit.
Some Scenarios
Identify what you need done and what touristy opportunities exist in your area.
Profile yourself by identifying your skills and travel interests.
Usually volunteers pay to go, the host gets little money and you usually can't tailor your work-life balance. We match the hosts need for help / work and their tourism assets with the skills and interests of travelers for p2p help and tours for real experiential travel.
